Charles Durrett and Kathryn McCamant are the California architects credited with bringing the cohousing concept to the U.S. Their work has been featured in Times Magazine, the L.A. Times, the New York Times, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
They have authored two books about cohousing:

- Senior Cohousing: A Community Approach to Independent Living
They live in Nevada City, California, in a cohousing community they designed.
